Community-based Climate Change Adaptation Training Course

Introduction

Climate change poses a significant and growing threat to communities worldwide, exacerbating existing vulnerabilities and creating new challenges for human well-being and sustainable development. While national and international efforts are crucial, the most effective and sustainable climate change adaptation strategies are often those that are designed and implemented at the local level, driven by the knowledge, needs, and capacities of the communities themselves. Community-based adaptation (CBA) recognizes that local populations possess invaluable insights into their specific environmental risks and traditional coping mechanisms, making them key actors in building climate resilience.

This practical training course is specifically designed to empower communities and the professionals who work with them to take a leading role in addressing the impacts of a changing climate. By focusing on participatory approaches, vulnerability and capacity assessments, and the development of tailored local adaptation strategies, participants will gain the skills and confidence to initiate and manage effective climate action projects that strengthen their community's ability to withstand and adapt to climate variability and extreme weather events.
