Gender-responsive Monitoring And Evaluation Training Course

Introduction

Gender-responsive monitoring and evaluation (M&E) is an approach that ensures the collection, analysis, and use of data that highlights the distinct experiences, needs, and priorities of different genders. In development projects and programs, it is essential to integrate gender equality considerations to understand the differentiated impacts of interventions on men, women, and other gender groups. Gender-responsive M&E helps identify and address gender inequalities, empowers marginalized groups, and promotes more inclusive and equitable development outcomes.

The Gender-Responsive Monitoring and Evaluation Training Course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to design, implement, and manage M&E systems that are sensitive to gender dynamics. Participants will learn to assess and measure the effectiveness of interventions through a gender lens, enabling them to track progress towards gender equality, identify gaps, and enhance program outcomes.

  • Design Gender-Responsive M&E Systems: Learn how to develop and implement M&E systems that capture gender-specific data, ensuring the monitoring of both women's and men's experiences and impacts.
  • Identify Gender-Specific Indicators: Understand how to design and use gender-sensitive indicators that measure outcomes related to gender equality, empowerment, and the participation of different gender groups.
  • Collect Gender-Disaggregated Data: Learn methods for collecting data that is disaggregated by gender, age, and other key factors to ensure the visibility of gendered differences in program outcomes.
  • Analyze Data with a Gender Lens: Develop skills to analyze and interpret data through a gender perspective, identifying inequalities and barriers to gender equity in project implementation.
  • Ensure Inclusive Participation: Learn strategies to ensure the active participation of both women and men in the M&E process, from data collection to analysis and reporting.
  • Integrate Gender Equality into Program Design and Evaluation: Understand how to align M&E activities with gender equality goals and ensure that gender considerations are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Report on Gender-Related Findings: Develop the ability to communicate M&E findings related to gender equality effectively to various stakeholders, including donors, policymakers, and community members.
  • Promote Accountability for Gender Equality: Learn how gender-responsive M&E can be used as a tool for accountability, ensuring that projects are delivering on their gender equality commitments and promoting inclusive development.
  • Use M&E for Gender-Based Learning and Adaptation: Enhance program adaptation by using gender-responsive M&E findings to inform decision-making and improve the effectiveness of interventions in addressing gender disparities.

This course empowers participants to apply gender-sensitive approaches to M&E, ensuring that projects not only achieve their development goals but also contribute to the advancement of gender equality and empowerment in diverse settings.
