Psychological First Aid And Trauma Management Training Course in Haiti

Introduction

In the wake of crises, disasters, and traumatic events, immediate psychological support is just as critical as physical aid. The Psychological First Aid and Trauma Management Training Course is a comprehensive and highly practical program designed to build the capacity of professionals, first responders, and community leaders in delivering compassionate, culturally sensitive, and effective mental health support during and after emergencies. This course equips learners with the knowledge and tools to reduce distress, foster recovery, and build resilience among individuals and communities affected by traumatic incidents.

This training emphasizes evidence-based techniques in psychological first aid (PFA), trauma-informed care, and post-crisis mental health intervention. Participants will gain critical skills in assessing emotional needs, offering stabilizing support, and knowing when and how to refer individuals for specialized mental health care.   • Addressing basic needs and fostering a sense of control

Module 3: Recognizing Trauma and Supporting Recovery

  • Types of trauma and their psychological impact
  • Signs of acute stress, anxiety, and grief
  • Psychological responses in different age groups
  • Resilience factors and coping mechanisms
  • Supporting survivors through early interventions

Module 4: Special Considerations for Vulnerable Populations

  • Supporting survivors of gender-based violence
  • Psychological support for elderly, disabled, and displaced persons
  • Culturally sensitive and inclusive support strategies

Training Approach

Training Venue

The training will be held at our Skills for Africa Training Institute Training Centre. We also offer training for a group at requested location all over the world. The course fee covers the course tuition, training materials, two break refreshments, and buffet lunch.

Participants will be issued with Skills for Africa Training Institute certificate upon completion of this course.
