In the modern landscape of public finance and development, a lack of transparency often undermines trust and accountability. This training course is designed to empower M&E and civil society professionals to engage communities in participatory budget monitoring. By shifting the role of financial oversight from a top-down audit to a collaborative, community-led process, participants will learn how to track public expenditures, verify project implementation, and hold local authorities accountable for the effective and equitable use of public funds, thereby strengthening governance and fostering genuine citizen empowerment.
This comprehensive program provides a practical, hands-on roadmap for designing and implementing effective participatory budget monitoring initiatives. Participants will gain skills in everything from understanding a government's budget cycle to training community members in data collection and advocacy. The course is a strategic investment for organizations seeking to enhance the transparency and credibility of their interventions, ensuring their work not only delivers services but also builds the long-term capacity of communities to demand accountability and manage their own development.
