Evolving Manhood: Masculinities And Gender Justice Training Course in Comoros

Introduction

Achieving genuine gender justice necessitates a profound understanding and active engagement with masculinities. Traditional notions of manhood often perpetuate harmful stereotypes, rigid expectations, and power imbalances that not only constrain men but also fuel gender-based violence, limit women's empowerment, and hinder societal progress. Moving beyond a focus solely on women, this interdisciplinary approach critically examines how various masculinities are constructed, performed, and impact gender relations. By fostering positive, equitable masculinities, we can unlock transformative potential, engaging men and boys as allies in dismantling patriarchal systems and building a world where all genders can thrive free from discrimination and violence. This essential training course focuses on Masculinities and Gender Justice, equipping participants to champion inclusive and transformative change.

This intensive training course is meticulously designed to equip a diverse range of professionals, activists, and change-makers with the theoretical understanding and practical tools necessary to critically engage with masculinities in their pursuit of gender justice. Over five days, participants will delve into the social construction of masculinities, explore their diverse forms, and analyze their intersectional impacts on individuals and society. The course will cover topics such as engaging men and boys in gender equality, addressing harmful masculinities (e.g., toxic masculinity), promoting positive male role models, and designing interventions that foster equitable gender relations. By mastering the principles and methodologies of masculinities and gender justice, participants will be empowered to challenge norms, build effective alliances, and contribute to a more just and equitable world for all.
