  • Basic aerodynamic principles for multi-rotor and fixed-wing UAS.
  • Understanding UAS performance limitations: endurance, payload capacity, range.
  • Factors affecting performance: weight and balance, altitude, temperature.
  • Routine maintenance procedures and pre-flight inspections for UAS.
  • Troubleshooting common UAS issues and malfunctions.

Module 3: UAS Regulatory Framework and Licensing

  • Overview of international UAS regulatory principles (e.g., ICAO Circular 328, RPAS Manual).
  • National UAS regulations: categories of operation, operational limitations.
  • Remote Pilot Certificate/License requirements and application process.

Module 4: Airspace Classification and Operating Requirements

  • Understanding different classes of airspace (Class A, B, C, D, E, G).
  • Airspace restrictions and temporary flight restrictions (TFRs).

  • Operating near airports, heliports, and other aerodromes.

  • Developing mitigation strategies for identified risks.

Module 6: UAS Operational Procedures and Best Practices

  • Pre-flight checks and setup procedures for the UAS and ground control station.
  • Manual flight techniques and automated flight modes.
  • Operating in various environments: urban, rural, indoor.
  • Effective crew resource management (CRM) for multi-person UAS operations.

Module 7: UAS Safety Management Systems (SMS)

  • Safety policy, safety risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion for UAS.

The training will be held at our Skills for Africa Training Institute Training Centre. We also offer training for a group at requested location all over the world. The course fee covers the course tuition, training materials, two break refreshments, and buffet lunch.
