Mind Over Money: Behavioral Economics & Loan Uptake Training Course in Maldives

Traditional financial models assume that individuals make rational, logical decisions based on a careful calculation of costs and benefits. However, real-world behavior, particularly among low-income populations, is often influenced by cognitive biases, social norms, and emotional factors. These psychological drivers can lead to irrational choices that hinder loan uptake and financial well-being, such as procrastination or a preference for small, short-term gains. Understanding these behavioral insights is the key to designing financial products and services that are not only financially sound but also psychologically aligned with how people actually think and act.

This course is designed to equip microfinance and financial inclusion professionals with a deep understanding of behavioral economics and its powerful applications in influencing loan uptake. You will learn to identify common biases that affect financial decisions, apply principles of choice architecture to simplify and improve product design, and craft communication strategies that nudge clients toward positive financial behaviors. By integrating a behavioral lens into your work, you will be able to create more effective and impactful programs that genuinely serve the needs of your clients and drive sustainable growth.
